Deshbandhu Library has over the last twenty years developed a reference
section, initially keeping in view the needs of media person and
researchers. It is now being upgraded as a full-fledged research and
documentation centre with the support of National Foundation for India, New
Delhi.
The centre owns more than 60,000 reference dockets on various issues, events
and topics prepared over a length of time. It subscribes to more than a
hundred newspapers and journals mainly published in India and a few from
abroad as well. The dockets contain clippings taken out in chronological
order from these journals. The range of the subjects covered is very wide-
governance, politics, human rights, cultural heritage, water conflicts,
sustainable development et el.
Currently, the centre in partnership with NFI is engaged in the following
three main activities-
1 ) Production of CHHATTISGARH DASTAVEZ- series of booklets on
social concern issues in Chhattisgarh. It has already published Dastavez on
the topics like-

2 )Publication of Reference Chhattisgarh (English).
The centre has collected material spread over 300 pages on various aspects
of Chhattisgarh, from history and geography to agriculture patterns to state
assembly etc. At the end of July 2005 this wealth of material will be
available on-line.
3)Updating and enrichment of dockets and creation of new dockets.
The clipping and chronological storage of selected items goes on as a matter
of routine.
